Understanding the Metrics
Three key measurements define oat quality for animal performance and digestibility. Higher DDM and WSC — and lower NDF — indicate superior feed value.
NDF: Neutral Detergent Fibre · DDM: Digestible Dry Matter
WSC: Water Soluble Carbohydrate · ADF: Acid Detergent Fibre
Recommended Grade by Animal
Racing & Breeding Horses
G1 — G2 recommended. High WSC supports energy and performance. Critical for Hokkaido thoroughbred operations.
General Horse Farms
G2 — G3 ideal balance of quality and value. Widely used across Japanese equine facilities.
Dairy & Beef Cattle
G4 — G6 provides excellent fibre and digestibility for productive livestock herds.
Rabbits
G5 — ideal fibre content supports healthy digestion. Consistent bale size ensures easy feeding.
